Why Are TPO And Antioxidants in Diet Supplements?
from:There has been a lot of discussion in the area of health food and medicine regarding the used of TPO and antioxidants in diet supplements for the last several years. Science and research has proven that overall TPO and antioxidants can lead to overall increases in metabolic health and activity, decrease in disease and elimination of free radical cells from the body leading to better health, more energy and more consistent weight loss and maintenance.
TPO in Diets
TPO is scientifically known as thyroid peroxidase, is an enzyme that is produced in the thyroid gland. TPO is converted to the thyroid hormones of T3 and T4. Without enough thyroid hormones people can develop symptoms similar to those of hypothyroidism, which can include increased fat retention, lack of energy, cold hands and feet and extreme fatigue. There are synthetic ways to get TPO, but typically patients must first be diagnosed with hypothyroidism, not just a lack of TPO in their body.
Foods that are rich in iron and TPO are an excellent way to jump start your metabolism by allowing the body to prevent the TPO from being converted into T3 and T4 thyroid hormones, there by increasing the metabolic rate and the subsequent fat burning ability of the body. TPO and antioxidants in diet supplements in combination are excellent in achieving this goal.
Antioxidants
Antioxidants are found in many foods such as green tea, fresh and frozen red berries, cranberries and cherries, most vegetables including broccoli, cabbage and potatoes, nuts, beans and apples. Unfortunately it is sometimes hard to actually eat enough of the whole foods to get the daily requirement of antioxidants for the body.
Antioxidants act to fight cancer and other diseases by removing free radical cells from the body. They also help to fight infections, keep cells hydrated and functioning and help to prevent heart disease. Since it is so important to get lots of these important substances a day, TPO and antioxidants in diet supplements may be just the answer.
In supplements TPO and antioxidants are found in compounds such as vitamins E, C and beta-carotene. Since TPO and antioxidants are found in fat soluble compounds they can be stored in the body and are not beneficial if taken in more than the recommended dose. TOP and antioxidants in diet supplements may not be as accessible to the body as the natural compounds found in fruits, vegetable, lean meats, whole grains and nuts.
Before using TPO and antioxidants in supplements it is important to discuss your health concerns with your doctor to ensure that there are not greater health issues causing any symptoms you may be noticing.
